2009 Geneva Auto Show Preview: Seat Exeo ST

Volkswagen's Spanish unit Seat will introduce a wagon version of its Exeo sedan at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show. The Seat Exeo ST will go on sale in Europe in late spring, at the same time as the new Exeo sedan, with deliveries expected by summer's end.

This is Seat's first foray into the luxury-wagon segment. The new model is based on Audi's proven last-generation A4 Avant. The ST will be available in four trim levels including a Sport and a Lux model. Like its sedan sibling, the wagon will be available with a choice of three engines: two common-rail turbodiesels, one making 141 horsepower and the other 167 hp, and a 197-hp turbo gasoline engine. Each is teamed with a six-speed manual transmission.

Trunk capacity is 15.6 cubic feet. Standard equipment includes Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls and alloy wheels. Options include a DVD-based satellite navigation system, heated front seats and a solar sunroof.

Pricing has not yet been announced for the new model, but for comparison purposes, the new Exeo sedan's price range is the equivalent of $27,670-$35,790.
