More Safety Equipment on 2010 Ford Ranger

DEARBORN, Michigan — The Ford Motor Company has barely touched the sheet metal on the 2010 Ranger compact pickup. But it has finally added two critical bits of standard safety equipment: side air bags and roll stability control.RSC is bundled with AdvanceTrac traction control. Four-wheel antilock brakes are also standard.Ford is touting Ranger, with its 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine, as 'the most fuel-efficient pickup' in America. According to the EPA, the 2010 Ranger returns 26 miles per gallon on the highway — identical to the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette with its 430-horsepower 6.2-liter V8.Inside Line says: We're not sure how much more time Ford can buy for its hopelessly aged Ranger — or why it wants to. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
