2009 Geneva Auto Show Preview: Nissan NV200

LONDON — Nissan will roll out the production version of its NV200 compact city delivery vehicle alongside its edgy Qazana crossover concept at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show.

The NV200 first appeared in concept guise at the 2007 Tokyo Auto Show. The production model that will bow next month at Geneva sports sliding side doors and three rows of seats that can be reconfigured to accommodate up to seven people.

Nissan says the small, vanlike passenger vehicle is 'designed to offer accessible, practical family transportation,' with lots of cargo space in the rear. Commercial models will follow.

Although it hasn't released images, Nissan provided a few more details on the Qazana, which it first described last summer. The Geneva concept is a forerunner of the compact five-door crossover that is slated to go into production next year at Nissan's Sunderland plant in the U.K.

Nissan says the concept vehicle will have 'large, wide wheel arches and a lower shape' as well as an upper body that is 'dynamic, assertive and sporty.' The Qazana features rear-hinged 'suicide doors' in the rear that can only be accessed after the front doors are opened.
