Ford set to launch automatic parking technology

Although Ford Motors is striving to stave off bankruptcy, they have not stopped investing in new technologies. A car that parallel-parks itself in its new Lincoln MKT luxury crossover and the Lincoln MKS large sedan is likely to be in the offing.

The first ever self parking car from Lexus was much criticized and Ford Motors looks forward to a warmer reception. Ford Motors considers this to be a leap in technology. The driver would activate the system by simply pressing an instrument panel button. The ultrasonic sensors which get activated measure and identify a feasible parallel parking space.

The system then prompts the driver to recognize the system assistance to park. At this point the steering system then takes over and steers the car into the parking space hands-free. However the driver still shifts the transmission and operates the gas and brake pedals while a visual or audible driver interface advises the driver about the nearness of other cars, objects and people.

The system is apparently faster and accurate than that of Lexus.18 months have gone into its development. And Ford Motors is looking forward to the best with its launch.
