G-Power M5 Hurricane RS Takes the Crown as Fastest Street-Legal Sedan

AUTENZELL, Germany — The Brabus Rocket, based on the Mercedes CLS, used to hold bragging rights as the world's fastest street-legal sedan, but now G-Power has ousted the Mercedes tuning specialist with its Hurricane M5 RS that maxes out at 228.4 mph.Output is upped 20 horses from the previous Hurricane's 730 horsepower, meaning the twin-turbo 5.0-liter V12 makes 750 hp. The vehicle made it all the way up to 228.4 mph at the ATP high-speed test track in Papenberg, Germany. The extra power comes from increased boost levels on the ASA turbochargers, and Christian Stöber, the G-Power CEO, says the engine can handle even more boost if necessary in the future.Inside Line says: Time will tell if Brabus has a rebuttal to G-Power's updated — and now record-holding — sedan. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
