AFFALTERBACH, Germany — AMG has rolled out two special-edition models, the ML63 AMG 10th Anniversary and the ML63 AMG Performance Studio. Both vehicles honor key moments in AMG's history.The ML63 AMG 10th Anniversary recalls the high-performance ML63 AMG, which was launched in 1999. But, unlike its predecessor, the 10th Anniversary model gets a greater kick in the pants in terms of horsepower. The ML55 AMG was powered by a 347-horsepower AMG 5.5-liter V8; the 10th Anniversary gets AMG's 6.3-liter V8 that churns out 510 hp. Other details on the 10th Anniversary edition include a hood with power domes, radiator grille and Himalaya Grey 21-inch high-sheen light alloy wheels and shaded bi-xenon headlights with active curve illumination. The cabin has two-tone napa leather upholstery on AMG sport seats and an AMG sport steering wheel.The ML63 AMG Performance Studio gives a nod to the two-year-old AMG Performance Studio. This special model gets 21-inch AMG high-sheen light alloy wheels painted the same color as the vehicle. Interior touches include full nappa leather upholstery and wood trim finished with high-gloss black piano lacquer.For the record, the EPA notes that the 2009 Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG delivers 11 miles per gallon in city driving and 15 miles per gallon on the highway.
