TRACKER, the UK leader in stolen vehicle tracking, continues to play an integral role in the covert operations of Durham Constabulary. The TRACKER devices have helped secure 15 arrests in the last 12 months and recover property in the region of several ￡100,000. Building on this strong relationship with Durham Constabulary, TRACKER continues to demonstrate its commitment to community security and safety.TRACKER was directly involved in the recovery of a BMW worth around ￡40,000, just one example of how the devices can be hidden to catch out thieves. The tracking units have been hidden in plant machinery, cars, caravans and bicycles and used to successfully catch criminals. In one case, the recovery of a caravan led to the discovery of five others and a quad bike. The units have even been used to corner criminals stealing metal and fuel.The tracking units have been used by Durham Constabulary in a variety of methods, allowing them to identify criminals and catch them in the act. Recently, the county experienced a series of Land Rover thefts and at risk vehicles were fitted with TRACKER as part of the Constabulary’s farm watch scheme. Durham Constabulary is also working with TRACKER to increase the number of masts throughout the county which will help them monitor the movement of criminals.
