2008 SEMA Show: Lexus IS-F Project Cars

LAS VEGAS — Lexus returns to the annual SEMA show for its second year with a full slate of project vehicles, including four new editions of the IS-F.The IS-F by Fox Marketing/Artisan Performance features aero add-ons, a custom Sunset Orange Pearl paint scheme, black leather seats with blue stitching, 20-inch Toyo T1R performance tires on iForged FS Imola wheels, Eibach springs and a full range of engine upgrades, including a twin-turbo kit that should boost output above 600 horsepower.The IS-F by MotorworldHype.com is a more modest take, with Starfire White paint over a subtle aero package, plus such enhancements as a Tein suspension kit, Borla exhaust system, Brembo brakes and 19-inch Rays wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 rubber.The IS-F by Import Tuner magazine/TEIN is considerably more aggressive under its decaled blue skin. Prepped for track or street, it comes with a nitrous oxide system, Fujitsubo titanium dual exhaust, suspension bits from TEIN and Tom's, Brembo brakes, Yokohama Advan Sports tires on 19-inch Volk wheels, plus Bride racing seats.The IS-F by 0-60 magazine is another track-focused project car, featuring a GReddy supercharger and exhaust system, TEIN coil-over suspension, Hankook Ventus tires on 19-inch Yokohama Advan Racing RZ wheels, Performance Friction brakes, Sparco seats, Design Craft roll cage and Seibon carbon fiber hood, deck lid, fenders and spoiler.Lexus is also showing off its own version of the IS 350 customized with a Five Axis ground-effects body kit and a full complement of factory F-Sport accessories, including upgraded exhaust, suspension, brakes and wheels.In addition to the IS sedan, the Lexus display will feature a customized LX 570 by Icon. Enhancements include a dechromed exterior with matte two-tone gray paint, carbon interior trim (replacing wood), a custom intake and exhaust systems, oversize brakes and 24-inch MOZ Calgary wheels with massive Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico tires.Inside Line says: Lexus is seriously trying to expand its image beyond that of comfortable transport for the country-club set. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
