China CV market to keep 9% growth before 2010
China's heavy-duty truck industry will grow at a rate of 9% for at lease the next 12 years, according to a state economist who compares the industrial growth to that of national GDP, the Xinhua reported today.
"By stimulating consumers to spend, the country is going to maintain fast economic development, and one of the results will be that about urban population will account for 60% of the total population,” Xu Changming, senior economist of the State Information Center, said at a heavy-duty truck exhibition held in Jinan, Shandong province.
"Thus highway transportation network will continue to serve as a strong support for national economic development, which holds large demand for commercial vehicles."
In the first nine months this year, China sold 2.13 million units commercial vehicles, up 13.35% year on year, while in September alone, the CV sector sold 198,700 units, down 26.19% from a year earlier, as shown by data from China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
