Chrysler Recalls 2009 Sebring, Dodge Avenger, Caliber, and Journey, Jeep Compass

WASHINGTON — Chrysler said it is recalling 712 of its 2009 Sebring, , Caliber and , and Jeep Compass and vehicles to fix the powertrain control module.

In documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Chrysler said it is aware of 31 reports of engine stall and/or no start on the affected models. The automaker said it has traced the problem to 'a new adhesive used in the powertrain control module manufacturing process

can cause the printed circuit board to break.'

'This can cause the engine to stall and cause a crash without warning,' NHTSA said in its recall summary of the problem.

Dealers will replace the powertrain control module for free. The recall is expected to begin sometime this month. Owners may contact Chrysler at (800) 853-1403 for more information.
