Dodge Dolls Up 2009 Ram With Blowing Leaves Paint Scheme

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan - Dodge had to do something to take the edge off the relentless pounding that the '09 Ram has been subjected to by consumers on the corporate Red Letter Dodge blog. So the new distraction is the rollout of four Ram trucks bound for the 2008 SEMA Show, including the 2009 Dodge Ram Sportsman with its 'blowing-leaves paint scheme.'

Dodge says the Sportsman edition of the '09 Ram offers up a 'new interpretation of traditional camouflage.' Other details include Mopar wheel flares and running boards with an integrated step. The Sportsman also gets a Mopar 2-inch lift kit and forged 20-inch wheels with 33-inch tires.

Dodge also unveiled the 2009 Dodge Ram R/T, which gets a Mopar cold-air intake kit and a Mopar dual exhaust system with a 'performance rumble.' The exterior is B5 Blue with a Mopar dual-snorkel aluminum hood and carbon-fiber accent stripes. 'The dropped chassis is possible with a concept Mopar air suspension kit,' said Dodge in a statement.

The 2009 Dodge Ram TRXtreme is spun off of a quad cab TRX-4. Mopar Underground added 4.5 inches of extra ground clearance using a Mopar lift kit. The truck also has 20-inch wheels and a two-tone bright yellow and mineral gray paint job with a 'mud splash theme.'

The Dodge Ram Mopar Street Package uses a 2008 Dodge Ram Sport painted in 'blackberry.' Other touches include a Mopar all-aluminum dual-snorkel hood and a hard tonneau. The cabin gets a Mopar DVD headrest system and a Mopar kicker audio system.

In the meantime, consumers who have taken test-drives of the 2009 Dodge Ram continue to post snarky comments on the Red Letter Dodge blog. The latest batch includes an October 13 salvo from Thom Yorke that says: 'I'll take a Honda Fit. It's happier, more productive.'

On October 11, Canuck posted: 'When discussing the updates to the 2009 Ram, if I had wanted a better-looking truck with improved handling, thoughtful functionality, and less fuel consumption, I'd buy a Honda Ridgeline. Oh, wait…I already did.'

And on October 13, Rambo said: 'Dodge is still dead last. The front end looks droopy, the interior is a cheap ripoff of the F-150 and it gave up a lot of capability.'
