Dodge's Ram Challenge Takes a Page From Reality-TV Shows

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — 'Go big or go home,' says a member of Team Cowboy about the new Dodge Ram Challenge. 'That'd be our strategy.' That little bit of insight is part of the run-up to the Dodge Ram Challenge, as the automaker takes a page from reality shows to boost plunging truck sales. The Dodge Ram Challenge, which pits several teams against each other on an obstacle course, kicks off Monday night on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles on Fox at 8 p.m. ET. Dodge says it is the sole advertiser on the program with four 1-minute spots that introduce the four teams competing for a 2009 Dodge Ram Crew 1500.The testosterone-laden crews include Team Cowboy, Team Firemen, Team Military and Team Contractors. One contestant is a U.S. Army veteran; another raises 'bucking bulls.' Dodge hastened to reassure the skeptical that the teams were indeed made up of 'real people.' The Ram Challenge may be of greatest interest, however, to women who relate to How Stella Got Her Groove Back.More information on the contestants can be found at the Ram Challenge Web site. The online program begins October 19 and runs through mid-December.What this means to you: Pick your team and start rooting as Dodge comes up with an innovative way to sell you a truck. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
