New engine rules for LMP1-class Le Mans prototypes will ban V10s and V12s for 2011. LMP1 will adopt today's LMP2 engine rules for 3.4-liter V8s and 2.0-liter turbos in 2011. LMP2 will then be open only to production-based engines.'Talking to the manufacturers, we understand that we have to have engines that use less fuel, create less emissions and less noise.
