2009 Lone Star Edition Dodge Ram Two-Steps Into Texas

DALLAS — The 2009 Lone Star Edition Dodge Ram, aimed squarely at the heart of the competitive Texas truck market, debuted on Thursday at the State Fair of Texas. The truck, which is spun off the Ram Crew 1500 SLT model, starts at $35,340, including a $900 destination charge for the 4x2 model. Expect to pay $40,560 for the 4x4 version.Truck buyers in other states shouldn't feel shut out by this Texas-only offering. 'You can get the same equipment package in other states, but it's called 'The Big Horn,' ' said Dan Bodene, Chrysler spokesman. 'Of course, you don't get the Lone Star badging.'The Lone Star Edition package, with the requisite Lone Star badging, is powered by the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. Details include a chromed 4-inch dual exhaust, 20-inch painted silver wheels, chrome grille surround with chrome billets, quad headlamps and foglamps. The cabin gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio controls, sign and puddle-lamp exterior mirrors, interior mirror with auto-dim feature, overhead console, illuminated visor vanity, ashtray lamp, lighted glovebox and underhood and dome lamps. The reason for targeting Texas? 'Texas is the single largest truck market on the planet for Dodge,' said Mike Accavitti, Dodge division director, in a statement. What this means to you: With this approach, the possibilities are endless.
