2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Gets Incentives

DETROIT — Consumers browsing dodge.com may have stumbled across cash-back incentives of up to $1,000 on the redesigned 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. For example, a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 ST 4x2 regular cab is priced at $22,170, including a $900 destination charge. Dodge.com says with a cash back incentive of $500, the net MSRP on the truck is $21,670. Dodge has not advertised the incentive, which now seems ironic, given that last Thursday the truckmaker promoted what it called a 'game-changing marketing launch.'Detroit automakers, particularly Chrysler, have been struggling to realign their pricing strategies to get away from incentives. The 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 regular cab has a $500 consumer cash incentive, while $1,000 is available on the crew and quad cab models. At the same time, Dodge dealers are trying to unload 2008 Dodge Ram pickups, which carry incentives of as much as $10,500.It is unclear whether Ford, which is getting ready to launch its redesigned 2009 F-150, will follow suit. What this means to you: Dodge feels compelled to launch the Ram with incentives, which is good news for your pocketbook. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
