Honda 2009 Acura MDX price rises to 800,000 yuan

The 2009 Acura MDX, a mid-size crossover SUV produced by the Acura division of Japanese automaker Honda, went on sale in the China market last week, and its selling price in China has risen from 660,000 yuan ($96,500) to 800,000 yuan, due to the higher sales tax on high-emission vehicles, said sina.com.cn today.
The 2009 MDX, a carryover from the 2008 model, is a 4-door, 7-passenger luxury SUV, available in 5 trims, ranging from the Base to the Sport package and Entertainment package. Upon introduction, these trims are equipped with a standard 3.7L, VTEC V-6, 300-hp engine that achieves 15-mpg in the city and 20-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.

Up to date, Acura MDX has been the best-selling Acura model in China, accounting 50% of the Acura sales in this market. The 2009 Acura MDX price was originally set to start at 660,000 yuan, but now it is raised to 800,000 yuan to meet the hiked sales tax on big cars.

Later this month, the 2009 Acura RL sport sedan will also hit the Chinese market. The new RL gets a new 3.7L V-6 with an upgraded VTEC valve-timing system boosting the output up to 300 hp and 271lb-ft. Its price is not revealed yet.
