Honda recalling Accord, Civic cars in China

Guangzhou Honda Automobile Co. Ltd, one of Honda's joint ventures in China, is recalling 717 Accord sedans as of today to fix potential problems with steering pumps, Beijing News reported.
The recall will cover Accord sedans produced by Guangzhou Honda between March 21, 2007 and March 29, 2007. Because of low quality, the defective steering pump may cause malfunction in the steering system of vehicles.

The company did not say whether any accidents or personal injuries were linked with the defect.

Simultaneously, Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co, the other Honda's passenger car venture in China, announced to recall 502 Civic cars due to similar problems.

The two companies said they will conduct the repair at no expense of consumers.
