During August 2008 a total of 28,424 new passenger cars were sold in South Africa. Total new passenger car sales in August declined by 3.4 per cent when compared to July 2008, and were a huge 33 per cent down on August 2007, bringing the market for January to August 2008 to 22 per cent below the same period for 2007.
