Tuner Special: Brabus C63 AMG

BOTTROP, Germany — Brabus, the longtime Mercedes-Benz tuning specialist, has upped the ante with its latest C63 AMG package that squeezes an additional 73 horses from the vehicle's 6.2-liter V8.This menacing sedan lays down 530 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, which is an increase from 457 hp and 442 lb-ft in the tuner's previous kit. All that extra power means a 0-60-mph time of less than 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 197 mph.The B63S kit includes free-flowing high-performance metal catalysts, sport air filters and a reprogrammed ECU. Huge 19-inch rollers leave room for the vented and grooved 15-inch brake discs and 12-piston calipers up front and the 14-inch discs in back. A height-adjustable coil-over suspension with gas-pressure shocks finishes off the list of performance modifications.Inside, Brabus offers a variety of custom upholstery materials and accessory options including everything from scuff plates with an illuminated Brabus logo to a racing shift knob. What this means to you: Brabus gives the C63 a hefty performance boost and a new aggressive look with its latest kit. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
