2008 Moscow Auto Show: Mazda Officially Unveils Kazamai Concept

MOSCOW — Mazda premiered its Kazamai concept crossover vehicle at the 2008 Moscow Auto Show on August 26, showing off a vehicle that was designed with Russians' SUV tastes in mind.The two-door crossover can seat four passengers and has a four-wheel-drive powertrain, a newly developed transmission and a 'next generation' direct injection engine. Exterior cues include flared wheel arches and a wedge-shaped profile. Mazda designers blended aluminum and plastic in this concept with an eye toward weight savings.The Kazamai is yet another of Mazda's Nagare-themed concepts. The name is Japanese for 'swirling crosswinds.'Mazda says the concept signals the company's future direction for a compact crossover vehicle.
