2008 Moscow Auto Show: Citroën's New C4

MOSCOW — Citroën unveiled its new C4 hatchback and coupe at the 2008 Moscow Auto Show, calling the world debut here symbolic of the company's 'commitment in Russia.' The new Citroën Berlingo is also making its Russian debut at the show this week.The C4, first introduced in 2004 and already the French automaker’s top seller in Russia, gets restyling and a pair of new engines. The front end has been redone, now featuring xenon dual-function directional headlamps and a more rounded appearance. In addition to the diesel choices, there are two new gasoline engines developed in partnership with BMW. There is also a C4 BioFlex version, the first biofuel vehicle Citro?n is bringing out in Europe. The French automaker set up a Russian subsidiary this year and launched the C-Crosser SUV and the C5 Tourer in the country in 2008. PSA Peugeot Citroën and Mitsubishi are currently building a joint plant to build the C4 and C-Crosser in the Russian city of Kaluga.What this means to you: The French are wisely looking eastward to where the market growth is. — Laura Sky Brown, Correspondent
