Hummer Leads the Pack With Incentives
YONKERS, New York — Hummer, with its thirsty SUVs that have fallen out of favor with the buying public, is the current incentive leader with $5,400 in combined customer and dealer incentives per model, according to Consumer Reports. The consumer watchdog said it tracked 2,014 national incentives this month across all vehicle variations. In addition to the striking deals at Hummer, 'some premium brands have significant incentives as well, with Lincoln at $4,500 and both Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz at $4,100,' said Consumer Reports in a statement on Thursday.Consumer Reports notes that pickup trucks in general have the highest average value of available incentives at $3,200. SUVs are close behind at $2,600. Fuel-miserly small cars have the least average value of available incentives at $1,000.The publication singled out the Buick LaCrosse CX, the Chevrolet Impala LTZ and Saturn Outlook XR AWD as examples of good deals under GM's employee pricing program. 'In these instances, the employee pricing came in around 15 percent below MSRP,' it said. What this means to you: Consumer Reports says you get the best incentives deal with Hummer but warns that you also have to take such things as 'fuel efficiency' into account before you buy. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
