Volkswagen China set to integrate its sales networks

By George Gao
Shanghai, April 25 (Gasgoo.com) The cars of FAW VW and Shangha VW will be sold in a single sales network in the near future, said Su Weiming, executive vice president of Volkswagen China, at the ongoing 2008 Beijing auto show. The company's strategy for the retail sales network integration has been started in Beijing.

A new glimp of hope has now appeared for the unification of the Volkswagen sales networks in North and South China, Su told reporters at the auto event. "We should manage to do it if customers and the market require Volkswagen China to sell the cars made by FAW VW and Shanghai VW as well as the imported VW vehicles in a unified sales network. And we have already kicked off a pilot program for the network integration."

The pilot program Su mentioned is a VW brand dealership in Beijing, which now can sell the products of FAW VW and imported VW vehicles. The vehicles made by Shanghai VW will be also available at this shop from this autumn. The reform of the sales pattern of VW China will move forward beyond the Beijing pilot dealership, Su said. The initial phase of a new sales strategy is now underway to integrate the marketing, service and management standards of VW China's networks.

A couple of years ago, some senior executives of Volkswagen China denied its plan for an integrated sales network in the country. Now in response to the fast-growing Chinese market and the demands of customers, the company is determined to start the "revolutionary strategy" to streamline its sales network in Volkswagen's largest market outside Germany.
