Vehicle imports in March rise 63.6% y/y to 40,600 units

Shanghai, May 13 (Gasgoo.com) According to data collected by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (AAM) from China Customs on Import and Export vehicle commodities, the total number of imported vehicles in March 2008 rose by 63.61% year-on-year(y/y) to 40,600 units, up 23.17% over the previous month. Imports sales rose 85.88% y/y to $1.465 billion, up 15.98% over February.
 
Automated Transfer Vehicles (ATV) topped other major vehicles by importing 2510 units, up 37.86% month-on-month (m/m) and up over 100% y/y. Minibuses also rose fast by 24.46% m/m to 2727 units, up 41.08% y/y. Compared to February, import of sedans rose slightly by 3.51% m/m to 14608 units, up 31.95% y/y. The total imports of the three kinds of vehicles mentioned above amounted to 38,800 units in March, covering 95.57% of all imported vehicles.
