American Honda Motor Co., reported January 2009 total vehicle sales of 71,031, a decline of 30.7 percent compared to January 2008. The Honda Division reported January sales of 63,175, down 30.5 percent while the Acura Division reported sales of 7,856, down 32.4 percent.

“Two models posted gains, but we are still facing unprecedented times in the industry, and no auto company is immune from current market conditions,” said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of sales for American Honda.

Those two models include the Honda Fit and the new Acura TSX sports sedan. Fit sales were up 1.8 percent to 4,745 while TSX sales were up 11.6 percent to 2,406.
