CLK63BlackSeriesI did not bring the diesel into the argument, or did u think the S400 is a diesel engine + electric motor just becuase it is named 'blue'? at any rate, feel free to deboost me, but u cannot deny 15kw electric motor sounds more like a marking gimmick than something that's acutally useful.let me tell you something you may be interested in. the 15kw/160 NM electric motor (if you actually read the article not just the title), is very much similar, if not identical to the one used in current civic hybrid. now answre this question: giving the mass of S class, do you really think that 20 hw electric motor would be anywhere near useful?HSCenterconsole the electric motor in prius is capable to output 258 ft.lbf. and its 1.5L add another 82 ft.lbf of torque.Prius uses 'E-CVT', it has some CVT character, but it is actually a differnt design. i won't go into the detail of how prius manages to drive using only one gear ratio, but if toyota want a high torque output instead of fuel efficieny, they can just change the sun gear and ring gear so the max torque of the ICE and electric motor can combine, that will give you 82+258=340 lb ft of torque. (the gen of prius, which is due later this year, has 85+295=380 lb ft of torque).
