Cadillac shows off 2 new models at Calif. event
General Motors Corp on Friday showed off its new Cadillac SRX luxury crossover, which is set to launch in mid-2009.
The 2010 model was displayed at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, an annual charity event that displays premier and rare vehicles. The new SRX will debut at major global auto shows later this year and replace the current SRX crossover, which was originally launched in 2004, GM said.
The automaker also planned to unveil debut its 2010 Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon later in the weekend at the show.
The five-passenger wagon, which is designed as a more fuel-efficient alternative to sport utility and other large vehicles, will be built on the same platform as the Cadillac CTS sport sedan but provide 25 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. It's fuel efficiency is expected to be similar to the sport sedan's 26 mpg on the highway, GM said.
"The next-generation SRX, along with the new CTS Sport Wagon, showcases Cadillac taking its dramatic design into new directions, particularly cars and crossovers that are the right size at the right time for today's luxury consumers," Jim Taylor, Cadillac general manager, said in a statement.
The Sport Wagon is scheduled to make the global automotive show rounds this fall before going on sale this spring.
