Viper to stay in Chrysler nest
Chrysler Group is no longer selling off its Viper sports car business, the company announced at the weekend.
Originally scheduled to cease production in December 2009, the automaker's Conner Avenue Assembly Plant - home to the Viper since 1995 and the first plant to resume output after Chrysler emerged from bankruptcy - will continue to build the V10 sports car.
"The Dodge Viper has successfully captured the hearts and imagination of performance enthusiasts around the globe," said Mike Accavitti, Dodge brand president and CEO. "We're extremely proud that the ultimate American-built sports car with its world-class performance will live on as the iconic image leader for the brand."
To date, over 25,000 Vipers have been built.
