Backyard picnic lures classic car collectors

ROCHESTER, Mich. -- On Sunday, July 13, the annual get-together known as Mantel's Picnic was attended by members of the Model T Club, the Eastside A's and the VMCCA. It was a really nice sunny day with a slight breeze that kept the temperatures down to where things were really comfortable.

There were about 47 cars there and probably around 125 people that came at the invitation of Marge and Bob Mantel to their home for this gathering. They just happen to have a huge back yard and it makes a great setting for the picnic as well as some friendly tire kicking and a relaxing lunch and just enjoy the day.

When you have a mixture of cars like this, you certainly get a good perspective on how the many different makes of automobiles made up the public choice of transportation in the past.

Since there were 3 clubs involved in the picnic, we have a great variety of different makes of automobiles with the Model A's having the biggest representation. This is the third year that I have sent pictures and an article to 'Joyrides' and I hope you enjoy looking at cars as much as I do.
