1-800-Radiator buys another company

BENICIA, Calif. ¡ª 1-800-Radiator, an auto-parts distribution franchise and a large independent auto parts distributor, made its second purchase in a week of an automotive cooling parts business with the acquisition of AAA Radiator Warehouse, in San Diego. Earlier last week, 1-800-Radiator purchased two New York Tri-US Radiator locations.

"Our business is in growth mode," says Mike Rippey, CEO of 1-800-Radiator. "We are expanding rapidly throughout the U.S. With the purchase of AAA Radiator and the Tri-US locations in New York, we strengthen our presence on both the east and west coasts."

For the past 29 years, AAA Radiator Warehouse was a family-owned and operated company with both retail and wholesale divisions. The retail side, Radiator Stores Inc., and the wholesale side, AAA Radiator Warehouse, had several locations throughout Southern California. At the time of the sale, the company had 22 employees, many of whom will be retained by 1-800-Radiator, the company said.

"1-800-Radiator franchises are a new way of doing business and are a departure from the big box large distribution service. By having owner-operators servicing targeted geographical areas, customers get a high level of personalized service," says Blair Laframboise, AAA Radiator Warehouse's owner.

Entrepreneur magazine recently named 1-800-Radiator as the 37th fastest-growing franchise in the nation in their Annual Franchise 500 rankings for 2008.

1-800-Radiator sells radiators, condensers, fan assemblies, gas tanks, heating cores and other new automotive parts.
