Exide supplies batteries for next-generation Toyota Corolla and Matrix Vehicles

Exide Technologies has entered into a supply agreement with Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America to ship lead-acid starting batteries for the next generation of Toyota Corolla and Matrix passenger vehicles assembled at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) in Cambridge, Ontario.
 
According to the terms of the supply agreement, Exide will provide TMMC up to 244,000 group size 24 and 35 starting batteries annually for the Canada-produced passenger vehicles. The batteries are manufactured at Exide¡¯s Bristol, Tenn. facility and shipped from Exide¡¯s distribution center in Mississauga, Canada.
 
¡°Our new supply agreement with Toyota continues a productive, 20-year relationship between Exide Technologies and Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America,¡± says Bruce Cole, president of the Transportation-Americas business division for Exide Technologies. ¡°Exide¡¯s strong, expanding alliance with this respected customer is a result of our drive to achieve continuous improvement in both operational processes and product quality.¡±
 
Exide currently supplies Toyota with batteries for its North American-produced Camry and Avalon cars, Tundra trucks and Sequoia sport-utility vehicles.
